October 20, 2014 the students of the South Atlanta Engineering and Design program were invited by the Atlanta Cultural Arts Program to visit the "Inspiring Beauty" exhibit at the Museum Of Design Atlanta . This exhibit showcased the Ebony Fashion Fair and the many impacts it had on the world, with a focus on African American Culture in America. Our students were further treated to a personalized tour by the museum's Director, Dr. Laura Flusche. We learned about the origins and personalities behind the fair and about the deep impacts this event had on Black American lives the world over. As a showcase of African American fashion, art and culture the fashion show not only made lasting impressions on the participants and attendees - it changed the entire world of fashion permanently and was one of the most important factors in creating the fashion and art of today. The display, presentation and education out-reach by MODA proved to be as innovative and ground-breaking as the event itself. South Atlanta's students will not soon forget this visit and several have begun to envision a career emerging from their experience.
